On the Ramp

There are a number of options for using MyFBO on the ramp. Some of our subscribers use rugged tablets, iPads, or even inexpensive netbooks. MyFBO also offers a Mobile Edition for small screen devices.

We've tested rugged tablet PCs from MobileDemand. These touch screen units with a built in number pad and the option to connect a credit card swipe reader are ideal for outside fuel sales or flight dispatch and check-in. Rugged tablets are a bit pricey, but definitely heavy duty. They can be used as handheld units, or with mounting brackets for truck installation. They can connect to the Internet via WiFi or cellular air card. For more information, visit the Rugged Tablet PC Website and check out the T7000 model. If you are interested in trying one out, the folks at Rugged Tablet PC will send you one to test.

One of our subscribers highly recommends netbooks that they obtained through an economical plan with Verizon. Fuel sale is made and recorded, credit card is swiped through an inexpensive card reader attached to the netbook, and the receipt is emailed to the customer.
