User Interfaces

MyFBO Systems are provided via web browser with access to the world wide web.  While Internet access is required, no software installation is needed.

MyFBO provides four distinct interfaces to its online systems via the web:

Full System

Your organization must be able to access to the full system to effectively use the software.  All system users must access the full system at least once to set their password.

Access to the full system requires a standards compliant web browser.  (Nearly all PCs and many newer mobile devices have this.)  A PC-based browser is suggested for system administrators for ease of use.  Supported browsers include:

At this writing, MyFBO tests using Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3.6+, and (as needed) WebKit browsers such as Chrome 8, Safari 5 for Windows, and Safari for the iPad.  Compatibility testing with Internet Explorer 9 beta has also been completed.

Instructions for linking your web site to MyFBO are provided in the Linking to MyFBO and Linking to MyFBO with iFrames.  In addition, please review the information about MyFBO's use of browser Cookies.

Some features of the online system use Microsoft-proprietary technologies including Vector Markup Language (VML) and ActiveX controls.  Thus, Internet Explorer is the browser of choice.  Browser add-ons that allow Firefox to run ActiveX controls are publicly available.

Mobile Edition

The Mobile Edition is designed for devices with screen widths as small as 240 pixels that connect to the Internet using an HTML browser (SmartPhones/PDAs).  While Mobile Edition provides a limited number of features for use while on the go, it is not a replacement for the Full System.

Because the Mobile Edition is web based, no "App" installation is required for its use.  For more detailed  information, please read Mobile Edition.

WAP Interface

Cell phone wireless access through the Wireless Application Protocol was touted as the wave of the future some years ago.  However, the small screen sizes of cell phones limit the useful work that can be done.

MyFBO supports read-only interfaces for both staff and end users (customer / members).  Staff users can view resource schedules for any resource – aircraft, staff, or other.  They can also view customer / member schedules and contact information.

End users can view their reservations as well as general contact information for the subscriber and for individual flight instructors.  For additional information on the end-user (customer / member) wireless interface, please see the Customer Guide to Wireless Access.

Web Service Interface

The web service interface provides for XML-based server-to-server interaction, and is provided for use by professional web program developers with a knowledge of structured query language (SQL).  Such web program developers can use the web service to extend the capabilities of the online system or the subscriber's own web site.

Web services are NOT intended for general users or web designers.

The following services are available:

If you wish to use the Web Service, please introduce your developer to us so we can provide further information.  It is the subscriber's responsibility to set and provide a web service password to their developer.

Particularly with the dbDetail service, it may be possible for frequent complex queries to exceed the capabilities of the MyFBO servers.  Thus, MyFBO reserves the right to block web service requests at its sole discretion.
