Aircraft Type Checkout
MyFBO has the ability to check many Qualifications and Limitations while scheduling and dispatching. Most qualification and limitation checks are specified in the Qualification & Limitation Parameters. These parameters can be set by an Administrator from the Admin Tab / Parameters & Settings menu.
The subscriber specifies the action to take if a specific qualification or limitation is violated -- ignore the limitation, issue a warning, or block the scheduling or dispatch action. Often subscribers will elect to issue a warning at the time a reservation is attempted but block dispatching on the same limitation. Information can easily be updated by Staff prior to dispatch. This maximizes the reservations made while ensuring adherence to appropriate safety and security procedures.
The overall system setting to determine if a pilot has a valid Aircraft Type Checkout on file is made in the Time & Type Qualifications section of the Qualification & Limitation Parameters. Along with defining the actions to take if the pilot does not have an aircraft type checkout recorded, the Administrator should also define when a checkout expires for both pilots and for student pilots.
In addition to the overall setting made in the Qualification & Limitation Parameters, MyFBO allows for a checkout expiration to be set for individual aircraft in the fleet. This option is most often used to set a shorter checkout duration to meet specific conditions of a leaseback agreement or to meet insurance requirements. This setting is made in the Aircraft Rental Limitations section of the aircraft resource record and applies to all pilots equally, regardless of student status.
Aircraft Type Checkouts are recorded by staff. When recorded, staff select the aircraft type, checkout date, and who performed the checkout. At this time an expiration can also be set for the specific checkout being recorded (0 = never expires). This recording of checkout is made in the Time-in-Type section of the customer record.
During scheduling or dispatch, if the pilot does not have the necessary aircraft type checkout recorded, or if the aircraft type checkout on file has expired, messages similar to those below will be shown.
Note that the 'expired' message above shows that the checkout for Joe Student expired after 10 days.
In the example used, the overall expiration of aircraft type checkout from the Qualification & Limitation Parameters is 60 days for pilots and 15 days for students. The expiration of aircraft type checkout for the individual C172 (N12345) from the Aircraft Rental Limitations is set at 10 days. When the C172 checkout was recorded for Joe Student, expiration for that specific checkout was set at 60 days.
When the system is presented with multiple expiration durations, the most stringent requirement is applied.
