S.M.S. - Short Messaging

SMS (Short Message Service) is a way to send text messages to mobile phones. SMS is similar to alpha-numeric paging except that SMS messages are held until the cell phone is turned on and in range (up to a certain number of hours). SMS messages can be from 110 to 224 characters in length depending on the mobile service provider.

MyFBO.com can send messages to pagers and SMS-enabled cellular phones.  For customers/members, the second e-mail address in the customer's personal information can be "flagged" for SMS delivery, for more information see Update User Information

Similarly, flight staff can mark the second e-mail address in their resource data for SMS delivery of messages, see Contact Information on the Personal Menu.

Some frequently used SMS e-mail address are:

  • AT&T Wireless
  • Cingular
  • Nextel
  • Sprint PCS
  • T-Mobile
  • Verizon
