Advanced Gift Certificates
The Advanced Certificates chargeable option provides detailed control over the appearance of printable gift certificates generated by the online system. After activation of Advanced Certificates by an Administrator via the Admin Tab / Features and Options Menu, follow these instructions to create a definition to generate Gift Certificates.
Start by locating the Advanced Certificates section in the Gift Certificate Parameters.
The definition will not be used to generate certificates unless it is completed and activated for use. In the example above, the user has not completed the definition or activated the certificate. Click the Modify button to edit the definition.
After clicking Modify, you may select a background image and click Modify Certificate Definition to load the Certificate Editor. See Advanced Certificate Overview - Backgrounds section for more information.
When the Certificate Editor is loaded, a sample certificate is shown and the applicable fields are placed on top of the background chosen on the previous screen. Each field may be selected by clicking on it, which loads the field's current styling settings on the field editor panel. The text of the field may contain areas such as [Customer Name] inside to denote that this information is dynamically filled in when the actual certificate is generated.
Each field has a label on the top left corner which is used to reposition the field by clicking on the label and dragging the box to a new position.
The above example shows the field editor in landscape format. The field editor's position will change depending on the layout to allow the user to see more of the certificate at once. See Advanced Certificate Overview - Field Editor for more information on features.
Once changes are complete, click the Save Changes button to save the definition.
Previewing the Certificate immediately following any changes is highly recommended prior to activating the certificate.
When satisfied with the sample, activate the certificate to begin using it to generate certificates. After activation, any future requests to print a gift certificate will use the new definition.
Certificate Printing
Certificates are designed in either portrait / vertical orientation or landscape / horizontal orientation. To print correctly, your printer settings should match the certificate orientation. If you keep your printer set to the default portrait orientation and your certificates are designed in landscape orientation, you will need to adjust the printer orientation prior to printing. There are a number of options for temporarily adjusting your printer orientation settings. Here are the two most common for use with MyFBO:
Option 1:
Prior to attempting to print the certificate, navigate to your browser menu / toolbar (well above your MyFBO screen) to use options available in the browser to change your print settings. You may find these options in a dropdown menu or via a printer icon/button. The example pictured below is from Internet Explorer, where you first select the File option and then select Page Setup. A Page Setup dialog box will open, allowing you to change from portrait to landscape orientation. Once selections are made, click OK to close the dialog box.
Option 2:
Enable the Advanced Printing Options in your MyFBO system. This results in you being able to quickly print pages within MyFBO in landscape orientation or portrait orientation, with shrink to fit, and without adjusting any of your browser print settings. For details, please see Advanced Printing Options.
