Curriculum Certificates

The Advanced Certificates chargeable option allows subscribers detailed control over the creation of curriculum enrollment and graduation certificates that can be generated by the online system. After activation by an Administrator of Advanced Certificates via the Admin Tab / Features and Options Menu, follow these instructions to create a definition to generate Curriculum Enrollment and Graduation Certificates. Curriculum Certificates were modeled after the FAA guidelines, and there is special handling to meet requirements for Part 141 course certificates.

Start by locating Curriculum - Advanced Certificates section in the Formats and Defaults / Curriculum Training Record parameters.

The definition will not be used to generate certificates unless it is completed and activated for use. In the example above, the certificate definition has been previously activated. Fill in the curriculum certificate parameters on this page:

Click the Modify button to edit the definition.

After clicking Modify, you may select a background image and click Modify Certificate Definition to load the Certificate Editor. See Advanced Certificate Overview - Backgrounds section for more information.

When the Certificate Editor is loaded, a sample certificate is shown and the applicable fields are placed on top of the background chosen on the previous screen. In the above example, a custom background with a logo has been used. Each field may be selected by clicking on it, which loads the field's current styling settings on the field editor panel. The text of the field may contain areas such as [Student Name] inside to denote that this information is dynamically filled in when the actual certificate is generated. See Advanced Certificate Overview - Field Editor for more information on features.

Each field has a label on the top left corner which is used to reposition the field by clicking on the label and dragging the box to a new position.

Once changes are complete, click the Save Changes button to save the definition.

Previewing the Certificate immediately following any changes is highly recommended prior to activating the certificate.

When satisfied with the sample, activate the certificate to begin using it to generate certificates.

Part 141 Courses

In the Curriculum Graduation certificate, there is a special field used only for Part 141 courses that meet additional FAA requirements. To use this field, you must fill in the Part 141 requirements for the course located at Curriculum Definition Center / Curriculum Description in the Part 141 Requirements field. If the course does not have requirements specified, this field will not show on the certificate.

Certificate Printing

After the definition has been activated, enrollment or graduation certificates may be generated from a student's curriculum documents page. With the student in focus, hover over View/Update on the ribbon menu and click on Curricula to view the student's courses. Click on the Dox button on a course line item to reach the student's curriculum documents. For enrollment certificates, all students enrolled in the course will have a Course Enrollment Certificate. Graduation certificates will only be available for students who have completed the course.

Certificates are designed in either portrait / vertical orientation or landscape / horizontal orientation. To print correctly, your printer settings should match the certificate orientation. If you keep your printer set to the default portrait orientation and your certificates are designed in landscape orientation, you will need to adjust the printer orientation prior to printing. There are a number of options for temporarily adjusting your printer orientation settings. Here are the two most common for use with MyFBO:

Option 1:

Prior to attempting to print the certificate, navigate to your browser menu / toolbar (well above your MyFBO screen) to use options available in the browser to change your print settings. You may find these options in a dropdown menu or via a printer icon/button. The example pictured below is from Internet Explorer, where you first select the File option and then select Page Setup. A Page Setup dialog box will open, allowing you to change from portrait to landscape orientation. Once selections are made, click OK to close the dialog box.

Option 2:

Enable the Advanced Printing Options in your MyFBO system. This results in you being able to quickly print pages within MyFBO in landscape orientation or portrait orientation, with shrink to fit, and without adjusting any of your browser print settings. For details, please see Advanced Printing Options.
